Living in Lisbon

The Town of Lisbon, incorporated in 1786, is a 16.26 square miles rural historic community (population 4,069) in New London County with a Board of Selectmen/Board of Finance form of government that is proactive and responsive to the residents.

Through their over-site and planning, the Board of Selectmen, Board of Finance and Planning and Zoning Commission have made it possible to preserve the rural character of the community while maintaining a low mill rate (one of the lowest among the 169 towns in Connecticut) and still providing a top notch education for its students; maintain the town’s roads, buildings and infrastructure, and provide such services as curb-side recycling, park improvements and recreational activities for the residents.
